Gothic fashion doesn't have the best reputation. Long the province of angsty suburban high schoolers and internet subcultures, most people associate gothic fashion with ripped fishnets, badly dyed hair, and vampire makeup. However, as the fall runways have shown, Gothic can be beautiful and modern - these clothes are a far cry from Hot Topic.

Olivier Theyskens and Nicolas Ghesquiere are the leaders of this new look - a darkly romantic style that uses historical motifs in a completely new way. At Rochas, Olivier has created a new vision of Victorian that is feminine, modern, and not all fussy or prim, and at Balenciaga, Nicolas has updated archival Balenciaga, adding both Baroque touches and a rock'n'roll edge, resulting in a seamless blend of eras that has fashionistas around the world coveting his clothes.

But how do you wear these styles without looking you're wearing a costume (or like a rebellious teenager)? It's all in the mix. Wear your ruffled blouses with jeans and a leather jacket, or floaty, feminine dresses with chunky platforms. Or just keep it to the accessories - try a skull or heavy cross necklace with a sleek suit. Makeup is also one of the easiest ways to go neo-Goth: just wear a little more dark eyeliner or lipstick than usual (and remember to keep the lips neutral). Inky nail polish is another fun way to try this look; OPI's "Lincoln Park after Dark" is a purple so dark it appears black.

Skateboarding style is no longer solely for the people you see carrying their boards around campus. The style has changed and evolved over the past few years into more of an original and unique sense of fashion as opposed to just following the typical college trends.

Sophomore, Erik Ottoson, said skateboarding was a huge part of his life for many years, so the style is just something he grew into. Ottoson competed in the amateur circuit, and trained with professionals before coming to college. He now keeps the skateboarding style alive by sporting his skater fashion daily around campus.

According to Ottoson, the skater style has evolved into two distinct categories, the loose fit skater style and the tight fit skater style. Ottoson says he falls somewhere between the two styles.

The loose fit style consists of the baggy pants, big T's and new era flat brimmed caps, which most people may think of when they think of the typical skater.

"The loose fit skater look is more of a relaxed fit," Ottoson said. "Their shirts are very urban like, kind of like graffiti; they become one with the streets."

On the contrary, the tight fit skater style is more of the tight pants and fitted shirt look. Junior, Josh Hollar chooses to follow this growing trend because of the comfort aspect of the style.

eMagin's prototype eGlass monocular personal display system runs off USB power, weighs under three ounces, provides high speed video using OLED technology, and permits users to see the equivalent of a 105 inch virtual screen. The eGlass display is designed for use in mobile industrial and commercial applications requiring access to high information content hands free data and video.
In addition, at the SIGGRAPH exhibition this week, 5DT (Fifth Dimension Technologies) featured its OLED based 800-40 Head Mounted Display (HMD) which provides for user configurable immersion levels. Other features are adjustable top/back ratchets, a mounting base for head trackers and a flip-up mode for reality checks.

You are now wondering how you can jive with the cool crowd and achieve your own indie look without stressing yourself too much over the right choice of indie clothes and apparel.

You might want to know first what indie is. It is a term that generally describes something or someone who exemplifies artistry and originality. If you are into latest trends and fashion, get ready. You will need a lot of personal ideas for the most part.Indulge into indie music and artists.
You pretty much know that fashion and music always go together. Get a load of pop, gothic, gospel, hard rock and other indie genre online and save a folder of them in your computer, mobile phone or other music gadgets. You can also check websites of your favorite music labels, they will surely have a list ofUpdate your list every once in a while. Read about indie bands and learn about the musical influences and style.
Customize clothes. The target is that your style has to look as if you do not really care on how your clothes are going to look on you, so long as you want to wear each piece. You are allowed to appear dorky.
